Have you ever thought to yourself, “If I just get”:

That sleek and stylish car
That big and beautiful house
Those precious kids
That generous salary
That beautiful girlfriend
That handsome boyfriend
That position at the office

“I’ll have it made”. 

Only to find out that once you got them, they didn’t fill the void in your heart.  You find yourself disappointed, disillusioned, and still feeling empty.  You ask yourself, “What is life all about anyway?”  The cycle of disappointments and unfulfilled dreams leads to an “unrest” in your heart.  This is where Jesus comes in.

Jesus Christ has made some revealing statements and promises: "…I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6).  He also said “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and he who believes in Me will never thirst" (John 6:35). That means that the path to Jesus is the way to totally and finally satisfy the hunger, thirst, and emptiness in your heart. 

You see we were all created with a void within; a sort of God-shaped hole in our hearts, that ONLY Christ can fill and satisfy.  Too often, we’ve tried to fill this “spiritual” hole with “physical” things.  But, like a puzzle, they just didn’t fit.  We’ve tried to do things our way and run our lives only to make a mess of them.  Our sinful behavior has separated us from a relationship with a loving Heavenly Father.  But, when we accept Jesus as our Savior & Lord, there’s no longer a wall between us and God. 

Jesus has been there all along waiting for you to give yourself completely to Him.  He’s the One who gave Himself totally on the cross for you. Invite Him into your heart today so that He can do what no other human being or possession can do – complete you, give you perfect contentment and rest, and give you heaven as your eternal home.     

Pray this prayer from the heart:

Jesus, I’m done with living life my way.  It hasn’t worked.  I recognize that You are the only way to true and lasting happiness and total fulfillment.  I believe that You are the Son of God and I accept the sacrifice you made on the cross for me.  Make my heart your home.  Help me to live a life full of purpose and promise.  And, thank You for making heaven my eternal home.
